Tips To Keep Your Home Termite Free After Floods

Floods and hurricanes are a natural occurrence that cannot be predicted. The floodwater damages the homes and makes them wet and humid. Once the floodwater recedes, the home is prone to attach from various pests and termites because of the damp and humid conditions.

The first thing to safeguard your home from termites is to call your pest control provider for termite inspections in Sydney for a thorough check-up and inspection of your home. The pest control provider will send a specialist to inspect your home and surroundings for any possible infestation.

The termite control treatment is done using baits for the termites to prevent them for entering the home. If the bait stations are not affected by the flood, your home will continue to have the protection cover from termites. A specialist pest control employee will be able to carry on detailed termite inspections in Sydney to check the condition of the bait stations and carry on necessary replacements and repairs if required.

While having a pest control treatment done, check for the chemicals used for termite treatment. All the reputed companies will use waterproof chemicals, which are not affected by flooding even when it is salt water. The chemicals will not leech out of the stations even after prolonged flooding. This helps to keep the bait stations in place and working effectively during flooding and after the floodwater recedes back.

If the area you stay suffers from soil washouts, a liquid barrier protection treatment from termites becomes ineffective. The liquid chemicals are easily bio degradable in wet conditions when compared to the bait stations. Always insist your pest con troll provider to use bait stations for termite treatment, if you reside in a flood prone area.

Since termites and pests are attracted to the damp and humid conditions post flooding, it is very essential to carry out termite inspections in Sydney immediately after the floodwater recedes, during the recovery phase. An early inspection will help you to identify and repair and damages to the bait stations and replace or repair them according to the requirement. Make sure your service contract has a clause relating to check up and treatment after floods.

How To Mitigate Noise Pollution In A City

Progress has become so noisy that many homeowners are asking “can you soundproof a window”. Noise frequently reaches uncomfortable levels so that homeowners want to soundproof their windows, doors, walls and floors in an effort to minimize the sounds that enter the indoor environment. There are many techniques nowadays to soundproof a home and avoid the serious effects of noise pollution.

Because of Singapore’s economic development, the city is experiencing uncomfortable levels of noise pollution from the roads and expressways, trains, constructions sites and shopping malls. In a new study, it was revealed the average noise level outdoors throughout the day is 69.4 decibels. This exceeds the official recommendation of not more than 67 decibels average over an hour. The figure also falls short of the WHO’s threshold of 70 decibels a day. Sustained exposure to high noise levels can hurt hearing.

Excessive noise can be harmful. It can interfere with sleep, impair performance and provoke a sense of annoyance. Lack of sleep can result into a change in behavior that can affect school, work, home and social activities. The World Health Organization notes that 1 in 5 Europeans is exposed regularly to noise cause by traffic at night which significantly affects health.

People who are living near airports are the most vulnerable to excessive noise. A study reveals that high levels of aircraft noise increases the risks of hotel admission and death due to stroke and cardiovascular disease in the areas near London’s Heathrow Airport. Noise pollution must be treated as an environmental hazard that a person has little or no control off.

Noise barriers must be placed at locations around train tracks and expressway viaducts to mitigate the noise that affects humans. A certain type of material must be used on roads to reduce the noise generated by the friction between surfaces and vehicle tires.

Homeowners residing near airports often ask “can you soundproof a window” because their indoor environment is severely affected by the noise created by jet engines. Young children are significantly vulnerable to loud sounds because it interrupts sleep. When the windows are soundproofed, loud noises can be mitigated and more desirable indoor environment is created.

Trees Versus Trams: The Politics Behind It

A lot of residents in Sydney have been complaining for years regarding the lack of public transport that is reliable and could play a meaningful role in their everyday lives.

Back in 2012, the state government made an announcement that it is going to allocate billions in order to build a light rail service that is coming from the city. This will have two branches going to the south to eastern suburbs located in Randwick and Kingsford.

There were praises from the residents, industry as well as councils regarding the proposed project because it will not only lessen the bus congestion that is plaguing CBD, it will also remove a lot of cars from the road, provide a reliable transport system for the locals, students of UNSW, the people going to Prince of Wales Hospital and it will also match the timetable they have at the sporting precinct of the Central to Moore Park.

The downside is that it will take years for the construction to finish, there will be road closures and there will be loss when it comes to public amenities such as parks and trees.

Despite the benefits the project has presented, there is now an ongoing issue regarding the tees being cut down especially those old figs that are located along Anzac Parade and the ones that are close to the UNSW located in Wansey Road.

Politics is considered the act of balancing. There is still an ongoing debate on whether the destruction of these trees is worth it for the construction of the public transport. Though it is considered that every fig tree removed is pales in comparison to what is to come in terms of the transport project once it is done.

The once acclaimed project head of the South East Light Rail, Marg Predergast, is now facing public hatred and scrutiny. She is now facing a list of charges.

This project is badly wanted by the public but there are now various attacks coming from protesters. Outsiders have even given their views regarding the matter saying that if the local want trees then they can give them the tram.

Though progress is painful, it is also a necessary thing.

If you are in Perth and looking for a tree lopper, make sure to hire a reliable and experienced one.
